The lecture is one of a series for 2019 that PGBI has conducted for PHILCONSTRUCT in Cebu, Clark, Pampanga and now, Davao. The next one is in November in Manila.

Speaker – Overview on the Green Building Code Process
The topic gives an overview on the rationale by which the Green Building Code was formulated. It shows the need for a mandatory set of building requirements in order to improve building design, construction and operations. These improve resource efficiency and savings while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. From data gathering- to sensitivity analysis of the potential green building measures, those that were deemed applicable formed the nucleus of the GB Code.

Salient points of the requirements under the mechanical system of the energy efficiency area is tackled in this topic. The requirements for the mechanical system are compliant to the energy efficiency standards prescribed in the PSVARE Standard on Energy Efficient Buildings.

The lecture tackles standards and best industry practices towards maintaining energy efficient HVAC system functions. It presents how cooling and ventilation mechanical equipment works, the cycles consequences of demand and delivery among others. It discusses use of refrigerants for cooling, the different types, their nature and attribute.
